Trip Overview

Starting in Broome we traverse the sandy track to the stunning and remote Cape Leveque. We visit the little known Cape Leveque. On arrival we will have the opportunity to take a walk along the beach swim or relax by the ocean. No other tour company visits this special spot!

We make our way across the mighty Fitzroy River visit the Prison Tree then on to the Gibb River Road. We will explore the magnificent gorges of this area including Windjana Gorge ,Tunnel Creek, Manning Gorge and Galvins Gorge.

We also visit Drysdale Station and experience a real working cattle property. Experience the spectacular Mitchell Falls - walk down to the falls - the only way to experience this stunning and remote area. Try an optional Helicopter ride to view the Falls from the air! We arrive at El Questro with time to explore the scenic gorges and relax in thermal hot springs. Tour finishes on arrival in Kununurra.

BOOKINGS Can only be confirmed with the payment of $250 deposit. Final payment falls due 45 days before departure. Cheques are to be made payable to 'Outback Track Tours Pty Ltd'. We also accept VISA MASTERCARD. All credit card transactions over $250.00 will attract a 3 %fee. TRAVEL INSURANCE We strongly recommend travel insurance against loss of possessions accident and cancellation through unforeseen circumstances. Insurance is available at the office if you require it. PLEASE NOTE This is a camping tour, twin share basis. If weather road conditions or other circumstances make a change in itinerary necessary the decision to change the route is solely that of the Tour Guide.

Note on the itinerary "Bush Camps" do not have facilities "Camps" are at Caravan Parks with full facilities National Park campsites have limited facilities.

Itinerary

Day 1 Broome - Cape - Leveque
Departing Broome we travel a sandy track through to the Cape Leveque. On arrival we will have the opportunity to take a walk along the beach swim or relax by the ocean. Watch the sandstone cliffs change colour change as the sun sets over the ocean. Camp with full facilities Cape Leveque - Full facilities (LD)

Day 2 Cape Leveque - Windjana Gorge.
Depart Cape Leveque and make our way across the mighty Fitzroy River. Visit the Prison Tree and then onto the Gibb River Road. Visit Tunnel Creek where water has worn a tunnel beneath the limestone of the Napier Range part of the 375 to 350 million year old Devonian Reef system. You can walk 750 metres through the tunnel to the other side of Napier Range wading through several permanent pools and watching for bats. It is home to Western Australians oldest cave system. Our evening is spent at Windjana Gorge. Camp with full facilities Windjana Gorge (BLD)

Day 3 Windjana Gorge - Manning Gorge
After a morning walk along Windjana Gorge see the fresh water crocodiles as they laze on the bank. Joining the Gibb River Road again we cross the King Leopold Range. A short walk to Galvins Gorge provides a fantastic location for lunch with time to cool off under the waterfall. We travel through to Manning Gorge where we can enjoy a walk and a swim in the river. Day 4 Manning Gorge - Kind Edward River
After an early swim or walk we continue along the rugged Gibb River Road stopping at Hann Crossing and the Gibb River before travelling through to Drysdale Station. We follow the Kalumburu Road to the King Edward River. Camping beside the river will provide everyone with a chance to freshen up with a dip in the clear water or a relax beside the falls. Day 5 Kind Edward River - Mitchell Falls
Travelling along the remote rough and narrow track we make our way along the plateau and take in the spectacular scenery as we pass the Livistonia Palms and amazing lookouts. Walk to little Mertens Falls view amazing Bradshaw Art and then onto the famous Mitchell Falls the second highest falls in WA with a combined height of 80m. There is an opportunity to enjoy an optional helicopter flight over this amazing country. Bush camp (long drop toilets) Mitchell Falls (BLD)

Day 6 Mitchell Falls - Drysdale
Station Morning walk followed by the opportunity to view aboriginal Wandjina and Bradshaw paintings. Although most of the walking is relatively easy and visits some beautiful swimming holes, the walk from Mitchell Falls campground down to the Falls does include short sections of rock hopping. To do this walk we recommend that you are fit and able to endure these conditions. Following the Kalumburu Road and through Drysdale Cattle Station. Overnight camp at the station with a chance for a cold drink at Annie's Bar and experience what it is like on a working cattle property. Bush camp (long drop toilets) (BLD)

Day 7 Drysdale Stn - El Questro
Today takes us along the Gibb River Road toward world renowned El Questro. Visit amazing lookouts with a chance for an evening drink at the bar or freshen off with a swim in the creek. Camp full facilities El Questro (BLD)

Day 8 El Questro - Kununurra
After breakfast we have the opportunity to enjoy a dip at Zebedee Springs a hot thermal pool surrounded by Livistonia Palms. Walk El Questro Gorge swim in the clear water or enjoy the falls. After leaving El Questro we finish the final leg of the Gibb before making our way to Kununurra. Tour finishes on arrival in Kunnurra drop offs at local hotels. (BL)
