About Us

Outback Track Tours Pty Ltd is operated by Mark and Sarah Wardrop based in Sydney, New South Wales. The business was formerly named ‘Bert Bolton’s Outback Track Tours’ by a former owner and some of our past passengers may remember him. We decided to change the name when we took over in 2000, as Bert was no longer involved in the operation of the business.
Mark has a background in PE teaching, with a Batchelor of Physical Education, he has taught many students from around the globe during his tenure as a PE Teacher. Since then, Mark has had many years experience in all aspects of four wheel driving and truck mechanics. Over the last eight years, Mark has fostered his love of the Outback. Also fondly called the “new” Bert Bolton, Mark has spent a many great years exploring some of the most remote parts of our country and is passionate about the Australia bush. He is equally passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with his fellow Australians and visitors from all over the world.
Not only does Mark program all of our itineraries, as you can see we change our touring program every year to take advantage of any new areas that open up and inside knowledge collected. His expert knowledge has been invaluable and extends to bird life, flora, fauna, Aboriginal culture and history. Mark is a keen collector of Aboriginal Art, with contacts in many remote communities throughout Australia.
Sarah has a background in marketing and management, with a Batchelor of Business in Marketing Management, she has many years experience in multinational companies. She now supervises the office and ensures that all things run smoothly with bookings and any special requests.
Mark and Sarah have been operating outback tours all over Australia and over the years have continued to grow our fantastic tours with excellent modern equipment, exceptionally good food and great times to be had by all. We are constantly researching new areas to visit and you will find that our tours tend to change every year as we update our itineraries. It is worth checking out our web page every now and then for any updates!
We also have strong connections with ‘Birds Australia’ and ‘Birding NSW’, organising annual touring schedules with tours for their own members. We work closely with these organisations to ensure that we operate the best tours for their members. We operate different tours every year in terms of our scheduling.
We have also managed numerous other bushwalking and overseas groups, specialising in itineraries for between 5 – 50 people. These include The Australian Wildlife Conservancy, Japanese birdwatching groups, Chinese teaching groups, American groups and many more. See our groups page for more information.
We also have many people that help us operate our tours, many of which we would not be able to operate without; the birdwatching guides, bushwalking guides and our reliable crew members who all work tirelessly to ensure that all passengers have a great holiday experience. We thank them all for their support, knowledge, experience and friendship.
We hope that you enjoy your touring with us and our crew, and join the Outback Track Tours family!
There have been a number of articles about our business - here is a fantastic one by past Passenger and journalist John Swords.
